CEnvP Scheme wins IAIA Institutional Award

Published 30 April 2024

We are thrilled to share that the Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEnvP) Scheme, EIANZ's flagship program, has been presented with the International Association for Impact Assessment’s (IAIA) 2024 Institutional Award.

The award is given annually to a national or international organisation for outstanding contribution to impact assessment, and has been presented to the Scheme for its significant contribution to advancing the recognition of and setting the standard for impact assessment practitioners since 2010.

Previous Certification Board Chair Alex Blood FEIANZ CEnvP-IA  accepted the award on behalf of the Scheme at the IAIA24 Annual Conference in Dublin over the weekend.

Alex was joined at the awards by former Chair Alan Chenoweth HLMEIANZ, and Lachlan Wilkinson FEIANZ CEnvP-IA, a member of the CEnvP IA-SEAC  and long time contributor to the specialisation.

When presenting the award, IAIA noted that the Scheme’s development of the social impact assessment certification was central to its selection for this award. Globally, social risk is considered an ever-increasing challenge and opportunity, with many jurisdictions considering accreditation. The CEnvP Scheme is the world’s first such certification, leading the way in the recognition of this important field.

IAIA also highlighted the CEnvP-IA Specialist NSW REAP Module, which demonstrates the robustness of the Scheme’s systems, as well as the strength of certification criteria developed by the Scheme to support ethical and quality practice.

Congratulations to the 2023 CEnvP Certification Board, the CEnvP Program team, and all CEnvPs on this well-deserved honour.
