PEP Talk: Accessing and Managing Sensitive Ecological Data

  • Do you collect data about a species or ecological community?
  • Are you the custodian of species and ecological community observation data?
  • Do you understand the value to be gained from making sensitive ecological data available?
  • Do you understand the risks from the release of such data?
  • Are you concerned about the timely access to data and the importance making quick decisions?
  • Does your scientific research rely on detailed species location data?

Then you must attend this PEP talk about the Australian Government’s new approach to making sensitive ecological data more accessible, discoverable and re-usable.

What is a PEP talk?

A Professional Environmental Practice talk is an event at which ecologists, park rangers, landscape architects, foresters, urban planners, environmental engineers, research scientists, entomologists, botanists, zoologists and agricultural scientists and other interested persons can share their environmental knowledge about professional practice.

“The practice of sharing of sensitive ecological data is about trust, risk management and the integrity of the professionals involved and their desire to disseminate the best available data to inform others about how to better manage the environment.”
