Student and Early Careers Congress

The EIANZ invites you to the Students and Early Careers Congress on 2 November 2016 in Brisbane (the day before the EIANZ Annual Conference!).

This full day of professional development is targeted at environmental students and early career practitioners. You will learn about the latest practice from experts, develop key professional skills through interactive workshops and build your network of contacts.

Keynote speakers

Dr Catherine Ball
Telstra Business Woman of the Year

Dr Catherine Ball is a renowned environmental scientist with business credentials to match.

Inspired by a childhood love of the natural world, her breakthrough work focused on sending Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) to remote areas of coastline to observe endangered turtle colonies.

Dr Ball is today at the absolute forefront of RPAS technology. Her work at engineering consultancy URS put Australia on the world stage.

Dr Geoff Garrett AO
Great Barrier Reef Water Science Taskforce Chair

Geoff Garrett was appointed Chief Scientist to the State Government of Queensland in January 2011. In this role he is accountable for science policy, providing strategic guidance across a range of government departments, and has also been involved with or led a number of reviews and enquiries covering, inter alia, the science of floods, uranium mining, bat derived horse viruses, underground coal gasification, health and biomedical research and, currently, water quality improvement in the Great Barrier Reef.
