Kev Kane (North Queensland Bulk Ports)

Kevin Kane is the Senior Manager Environment for North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation (NQBP), based in Mackay. In this role he is fully responsible for environmental management of four of Queensland’s largest bulk commodity Ports.
Kevin’s expertise has grown from a highly diverse career in areas of environmental research, fisheries science and regulation, impact evaluation and management, government policy and compliance and more recently transport and infrastructure.
Kevin is currently the Chair of the Queensland Ports Association Environment and Planning Committee, and sits on a range of advisory panels and regional committees. Kevin has been leading a number of Port initiatives including the development of an Environmental Management Framework (EMF) to inform the recently drafted Queensland Ports Strategy.
He holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) from the James Cook University, Graduate Diploma Occupational Health and Safety (Central Queensland University) and Graduate Certificate in Managem
ent (Central Queensland University).

Dr Kerry Neil (GHD)

Kerry is a Principal Environmental Scientist with over 12 years’ experience in marine environmental management, impact assessment, ecological marine research and publication. Having worked with the International Maritime Organisation, New Zealand and Australian Government’s and agencies in Mombasa and Brazil she is internationally recognised for her technical ability to design and conduct environmental assessments for impact understanding and sustainable development.
Kerry is an invited member of the IUCN’s Invasive Species Specialist Group and her depth of technical experience is reflected in her role as GHDs Global Service Line Leader for Water Science. Kerry has previously delivered on port development assessments for Townsville, Abbot Point and Gladstone (in Queensland). Recently she has been working with the Queensland and Australian Governments and industry sectors supporting the Strategic Assessment of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area.

Patrice Brown (CQG)

Patrice Brown (CQG Consulting) M Eng (Civil),B AppSc (Chem), Cert Sugar Tech, Cert Maritime Env Mgmt (Lloyds London), GAICD Dip Company Director, Cert Env Practitioner.
One of Queensland’s leading environmental consultants with over 20 years’ experience in environmental assessment for linear infrastructure, mining, ports, tourism, agriculture, rail, power generation, manufacturing and development projects.
Patrice’s success with project approvals is her personal affinity with her client’s needs, strategic approach with total project delivery, appreciation of political and bureaucratic drivers coupled with her technical skills. Her areas of expertise include management of EIS projects within the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area, government liaison and assisting Traditional Owner groups with economic development opportunities.
She has been intimately involved in Mitchell Ports’ transhipping proposals to deliver incremental, minimal impact export solutions for ports within the world heritage area. Patrice was personally invited to present to UNESCO and the IUCN during their mission in early 2012 to review Australia’s management of the GBR and she presented at various national and international conferences including the European Green Ports Conference in France in 2012 and the International Association of Impact Assessment conference in Calgary in 2013. Patrice held the Chair role for the EIANZ External Relations Committee for a number of years.

Andrew Parker (SLR)

Andrew is an Associate Engineer with ten years’ experience. Andrew’s project experience covers a broad spectrum, including the measurement, assessment and control of noise and vibration emissions from a wide range of transportation, maritime, mining and construction projects. Andrew has provided leading edge Acoustics and Vibration consulting services, having provided specialist advice in the field of underwater acoustics on numerous major infrastructure projects. As project manager of the underwater acoustics aspects of coal port expansion projects in Queensland and Western Australia, Andrew oversaw the preparation of environmental impact assessments and management plans. His roles have also included management of the implementation phase of the management strategies during construction. Andrew has partaken in a significant number of consultation programs with the community and government stakeholders relating to environmental noise impacts on marine fauna and humans alike, including expert witness reporting. Andrew has authored numerous technical articles and papers including a recent presentation at the Australian Acoustical Society Workshop on Underwater Acoustics.
