Geoff Wescott is an Associate Professor of Environment at Deakin University’s Melbourne campus. Whilst his original degree was a Masters in Zoology from the University of Melbourne he also has a Masters in Nature Conservation from University College London and a PhD from Deakin University.
Currently Geoff is Chairing the Expert Panel writing a new Marine and Coastal Act for Victoria, is a Director of Zoos Victoria, President of the Australian Coastal Society and a member of the Victorian Environment Assessment Council. Among previous roles he has been Chair of the National Parks Advisory Council, Deputy Chair of Parks Victoria and a member of the Victorian Coastal Council.
Among books he has recently co-edited have been 'Linking Australia’s Landscapes' and just released 'Big, Bold and Blue – lessons from Australia’s Marine Protected Areas'. He has written over 170 technical papers, books, chapter of books and general articles.
