John is a highly respected coastal and riverine ecologist, and the founder and current Managing Principal of frc environmental. frc environmental offers services related to marine, estuarine, freshwater and groundwater ecosystems.

With a career spanning the Roche Research Institute of Marine Pharmacology, the CSIRO’s Division of Fisheries Research and more recently consulting practice, John applies his years of research and applied ecosystems management to supporting the quality, rigor and relevance of the advice provided by frc environmental to its clients.

Through consulting, John has applied his expertise, experience and insight to conservation management, and industries as diverse as defence, oil and gas, tourism, urban development and aquaculture – across Australia and internationally. Whilst increasingly sought-after for his strategic input and ability to provide constructive, critical review, John remains very much the ‘hands-on’ ecologist, still enjoying time in the field and laboratory.
