The Nature Positive Cities Community of Practice (CoP) was established in 2024 following the success of the inaugural Nature Positive Cities Symposium in Sydney. It is part of the Ecology Special Interest Section (SIS) within EIANZ and is focused on promoting nature positive approaches to urban design and development.
The Nature Positive Cities CoP aims to support the integration of nature into urban areas, working with a diverse range of professionals to encourage environmentally sustainable cityscapes. The group also seeks to incorporate Indigenous knowledge into these initiatives, fostering a deeper connection between nature and urban living.
To create a collaborative community of experts and practitioners dedicated to advancing nature positive solutions in urban and suburban settings. The CoP strives to promote best practices in designing cities that work harmoniously with nature, while enhancing biodiversity and ecological resilience.
Membership is open to anyone with a professional interest in promoting nature-positive practices in urban environments. The CoP welcomes ecologists, architects, planners, engineers, and government personnel to collaborate and share insights.
While not mandatory, joining EIANZ offers additional benefits, including access to valuable resources and networking opportunities.
