The CDSSC is one of three such complexes in a global network that is used to track and communicate with robotic spacecraft and undertake radio astronomy in deep space on behalf of NASA. Come and see the antennae up close and explore the operations control centre, plant rooms and other facilities. You will learn what this unique site does and what is involved in supporting the Australian and international scientists that rely on it — hearing from key CSIRO operational staff, with a special emphasis on environmental and risk management.
You will be required to wear closed walking shoes and remember your sun protection (hat, sunscreen etc).
Lunch will be provided after the tour in the onsite staff cafeteria. The Visitor Centre and Cafe are currently closed, so this is a rare opportunity to visit this site and tour its unique facilities.
We are offering attendees coach transportation to the site. Attendees will meet at the Jolimont Centre, Civic for an 8:00am departure and will return by 2:00pm.
