The Government is currently working on a review of the RMA.
Come along to our one of our New Zealand branches to hear more about how the proposed changes to the RMA may affect environmental professionals.
This event is being hosted in Auckland and will be live-streamed to locations in Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. There will be an opportunity at all branches to enjoy some drinks and nibbles while networking and to ask questions of our speaker in Auckland.
Meet the speaker:
Paula Hunter is Stantec’s National Specialist – Planning. Paula’s planning career has mainly focussed on plan making (regional and district plans) and consenting major infrastructure under the RMA, particularly three waters infrastructure. She was appointed by the Government to the Auckland Unitary Plan Independent Hearings Panel and spent nearly three years hearing submissions and developing recommendations that would influence the shape and future growth of Auckland. Paula is a former President of the New Zealand Planning Institute, a Fellow of the Planning Institute, and a recipient of the Institute’s Distinguished Services Award for her services to planning in New Zealand.
Paula’s presentation is a think piece on the implications of the Resource Management Reforms for water planning, particularly three waters planning. Paula will draw on some of her learnings from her Auckland Unitary Plan experience to consider the future planning and management of water under the proposed Natural and Built Environment Act’s National Planning Framework, the Spatial Planning Act’s long term regional spatial strategies and the proposed Natural and Built Environment Plans which in effect are combined plans like the Auckland Unitary Plan. Paula will also consider the role of the new Water Services Entities in the development of the plans and strategies required by the Natural and Built Environment and Spatial Planning Acts.
