EIANZ is inviting EIANZ Victorian members to join us on a tour hosted by Visy Glass Melbourne in Spotswood.

With 150+ operations across Australasia, Visy is a global leader in packaging and resource recovery, and has been a pioneer in sustainability for over 70 years. Visy is Australasia’s largest manufacturer of glass bottles and jars. Glass is a valuable resource and it can be recycled indefinitely, creating new opportunities for sustainability. The tour will showcase the way Visy Glass operates, the day-to-day of the facility and the process of glass recycling, and what the future holds as circular economy principles continue to be applied across the recycling industry. This is a unique tour to better understand the industry, the history of emblematic Melbourne owned and operated business, and the transformation is experiencing. This is particularly useful since more local councils are planning on introducing glass-only recycling bins.

This is a tour to a working facility. All attendees MUST wear:

• Non-synthetic long pants
• Safety boots if you have them or at least closed-toe shoes (if not, Visy should be able to loan you some for the session but could get challenging if a common size/s is/are needed)
• A long-sleeved site-based high-viz cotton shirt or coat commonly used in construction and industrial sites (i.e. not synthetic)

The tour will take about 1 hour and we have some Q&A time with the site manager, leaving no later than 7pm.
