AEP provides high-level environmental services, advice, strategic direction and management for sectors including major projects, biodiversity offsetting, land development, energy/renewables, infrastructure, legal, conservation, government, mining and quarrying.

AEP are an established environmental consultancy and is proud to have one of the largest ecology teams in NSW, and are experts in all aspects of NSW biodiversity, bushfire and arboriculture planning and legislation. We assist clients at every stage of their planning, development and conservation projects, and regularly achieve favourable outcomes with consent authorities.

AEP has a faithful client base, many of which have collaborated with AEP since its foundation in 2013, working closely with Managing Director – Craig Anderson and the AEP leadership group, experienced and well-respected ecologists, Accredited Biodiversity Assessors, AQF5 Arborists and qualified Bushfire Planners.

As demand for our services grows, we’re seeking a Botanist who’s ready to learn, inspired, and occasionally bring the humour to our fast-paced environment with a solution focused mindset & a can-do attitude.

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Junior Botanist to join our team. In this role, you will participate in field surveys, assist in ecological assessments, and contribute to environmental projects that promote sustainability and conservation. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your botanical skills and work on diverse projects within a supportive team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Field Surveys: Conduct botanical fieldwork, including vegetation mapping, species identification, and ecological monitoring.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Gather and analyse ecological data to support environmental assessments and project reports.
  • Report Preparation: Assist in the preparation of technical reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Project Support: Collaborate with senior ecologists and project managers to support various environmental projects.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Botany, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Strong interest in plant identification and ecology, with some field experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel and conduct fieldwork in various locations.
  • Valid NSW Driver’s License.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with GIS mapping tools and ecological assessment methodologies.
  • Understanding of local environmental regulations and conservation practices.
