ABOUT THE JOB

As an Environmental Consultant, you will work alongside Executive Directors, Principals, and Senior Environmental Scientists and Planners to contribute to environmental assessments and approvals across industrial, waste, extractive industries, infrastructure, residential, and commercial projects.

You will be responsible for designing, planning, developing, and coordinating impact assessment activities that support Element’s strategic goals and growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support project managers in delivering major planning approvals and environmental impact assessments.
  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of smaller planning approvals and impact assessments, ensuring they align with approved budgets and timelines.
  • Prepare proposals for smaller projects and business opportunities.
  • Set up environmental reports, including:
    • Environmental Impact Statements (EISs)
    • Statements of Environmental Effects (SEEs)
    • Environmental Management Plans (EMPs)
    • Review of Environmental Factors (REFs)
  • Engage and manage sub-consultants, including defining scope of work, contract preparation, and execution.
  • Liaise with clients, government agencies, and industry professionals.
  • Work within Element’s Quality Management System to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Support other business lines as needed, contributing to a dynamic and collaborative team.

ABOUT YOU

  • Degree qualified in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience in environmental impact assessments within NSW.
  • Experience in one or more of the following sectors:
    • Transport/Infrastructure
    • Waste and Industrial
    • Extractive Industries/Mining
    • Renewable Energy
  • Strong technical knowledge of planning and environmental regulations necessary to deliver projects.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information in plain English.
  • Proficiency in Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint) and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Experience with Accelo or similar project management software is an advantage.
