What does a Graduate Zoologist in Environment do?

  • Actively participate in terrestrial fauna field surveys in a range of remote and diverse environments across Western Australia (and potentially interstate).
  • Analyse ecological data and prepare clear, concise technical reports with guidance.
  • Liaise with technical and subject matter specialists.
  • Preparation of proposals, budgets, and tender documents with guidance.
  • Opportunity to expand your knowledge across various ecological disciplines (aquatic ecology, terrestrial ecology, marine science, environmental impact assessment, mine closure and rehabilitation), and
  • Undertake training and development to drive your career progression.

Qualifications

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Currently in final year of degree or 1-2 years post-graduation
  • A passion for learning, experience, and demonstrated enthusiasm for zoology (outside of university).
  • Ability to undertake extended surveys, generally up to two weeks at a time in remote locations across WA.
  • Keen birding experience would be of interest but not essential.
  • Keen terrestrial invertebrate experience would be of interest but not essential.
  • A solid level of physical fitness and ability to pass a fitness assessment for field surveys.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • GIS and spatial ecology experience will be seen as beneficial, but not essential.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and willingness to work across teams.
  • Be eligible to work in Australia with a current C class unrestricted (manual) drivers’ licence.
  • An interest in embracing innovation to continually improve the work we do.
  • Passion for learning and problem-solving
