ERM is seeking a Managing Consultant to join our Corporate Sustainability and Climate Change team in Sydney/Melbourne. With a focus on greenhouse gas accounting and the Australian carbon market, they will provide specialist consulting services to help shape a sustainable future with the world’s leading organisations.

The role will include the following responsibilities:

  • Managing Clients and Projects
  • Managing the delivery of client work, including planning and execution of work, team and client management.
  • Ensuring project delivery meets clients expectations.
  • Applying subject matter expertise to client problems in order to help our clients meet their sustainability imperatives.
  • Contributing to business development activities, including client pitches and scope  definition.

Teamwork and Organization

  • Leading project teams to deliver impactful work and manage project stakeholders.
  • Providing coaching, mentoring and skills development to team members.
  • Contributing to partnerships and relationships with clients, external stakeholders and key opinion leaders.
  • Contributing to knowledge management and thought leadership.

We look for candidates with the following qualities:

  • Relevant Technical Skills
  • Prior experience in greenhouse gas accounting and carbon markets including industrial and land-based methods.
  • Familiarity with assurance methodologies and standards including the NGER Audit Determination, ASAE3000 and related standards.
  • Strong quantitative skills and comfort working with large quantities of numerical information.

Regulatory & Market Knowledge

  • Familiarity and experience with the Australian Carbon Credit Unit (‘ACCU”) scheme, National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting scheme, and the Safeguard Mechanism.
  • Awareness of the dynamics of the ACCU markets, including key factors influencing the supply of and demand for ACCUs.
  • Sectoral Experience
  • Experience working in a professional services environment.
  • Familiarity with ERM’s key industries including mining & metals, oil & gas, financial services, power, chemicals, and manufacturing.
  • Experience in the carbon project development sector would be highly regarded.

 

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (environmental sciences and management, economics, engineering, law).
  • 5+ years of professional experience
  • 2+ years Consulting experience
  • Ability to work independently, strong organization and time-management skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to deliver high-quality work products.
  • Personal resilience and flexibility to navigate through ambiguity and conflicting priorities while delivering results in a time-constrained environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills, excellent writing and presentation skills in delivering client work     
  • Works with clients, builds and maintains relationships through project delivery, and demonstrates impactful communication in order to influence decision-makers and outcomes   
  • Leverages technical expertise to support development of opportunities, proposals, and other marketing/business activities across the team, the company and broadly ERM global business.
