Alex Blood is Executive Director, Mineral Resources, with the South Australian Department for Energy and Mining. Until June 2022 Alex was also Chair of the Institute’s Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEnvP) Scheme.
Alex has worked on mine, infrastructure, waste, oil and gas projects throughout Australia and internationally in both the private sector and government. In her current role, Alex leads the South Australian Department for Energy and Mining’s Mineral Resources team in its commitment to oversee responsible development of South Australia’s mineral resources. This includes both the mining and quarrying sectors, the state Geological Survey, and environmental and social regulators.
In her role as CEnvP Board Chair, Alex led the growth of the Scheme, implemented core governance processes, and enjoyed strong support from the CEnvP Certification Board and CEnvP Program Office. Alex has fostered important partnerships with regulators, industry groups and other professional bodies, ensuring a robust strategic vision for the benefit of the EIANZ.
