Darren Murphy has demonstrated sustained leadership and influence within the environmental, mine closure and land reclamation profession. Through his expertise, he built a leading practice for Jacobs (Australia) Group Pty Ltd (formerly SKM) and is now the Principal Closure Scientist at Golder Associates Pty Ltd.
Darren has project managed and directed numerous multi-disciplinary studies for major clients which has included conceptual, prefeasibility and feasibility level studies, as well as provision of strategic advice to both industry and government clients. While working mostly within Australia, Darren has also managed or supported closure studies in South America, North America and Asia.
Darren is an active contributor to the EIANZ - assisting in sponsorship, making presentations and participating in various events. He is also a member of the CEnvP Special Environmental Advisory Committee for Land Rehabilitation Certification.
Darren is the EIANZ representative on the Standards Australia Mirror Committee for the development of mine closure and reclamation standards. Darren was also the International Project Leader for the development of ISO20305 Mine Closure and Reclamation Vocabulary that has recently been published. Darren is a worthy recipient of an EIANZ Fellowship.
