Matthew Baird is a leading practitioner in environmental and planning law attaining a laudable national and international reputation, with a speciality in environmental impact assessment, sustainable development, the law relating to climate change, international environmental law and has been at the forefront of environmental litigation in Australia. Within the EIANZ he has been a member for 28 years and a past active NSW Division Committee member. He is a CEnvP. He has concurrently held numerous senior positions within other related professional associations.
His international work is outstanding, based largely in ASEAN countries, reinforcing the respected status of an Australian trained and experienced environmental practitioner. Amongst numerous international commissions, he is an advisor on environmental law with the Myanmar Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation and was an advisor and Member of the Permanent Secretariat of the Technical Working Group for the Cambodian Ministry of Environment drafting the Environmental Code of Cambodia.
