Alex Blood has been elected as Chairperson of the CEnvP Certification Board following the retirement of Alan Chenoweth.
Alan Chenoweth’s decision to resign as Chair and member of the CEnvP Certification Board marks the end of an era for the CEnvP Scheme. His passion, commitment and advocacy for the Scheme, since its inception, has been pivotal in building the profile of professional certification across the environmental industry.
As Chair for the past four years, Alan has focussed on positioning the Scheme for continued, sustainable growth. In particular, he was instrumental in the implementation, and expansion, of the specialist categories. Most notably, Alan played an integral role in the successful integration of the SCPA scheme, which saw more than 70 practitioners transition to CEnvP Site Contamination Specialist certification in 2018.
Alex Blood, who has been a member of the CEnvP Certification Board since 2016, was formally elected this week as the new Chairperson.
Alex has over 20 years’ professional experience. She has worked at state, national and global levels for a wide variety of mining, oil and gas, infrastructure and industrial projects across Australia, Papua New Guinea, Asia-Pacific and Africa. Her diverse experience includes leadership roles in approvals and assessment of mining and other projects, corporate strategy and policy, industry committees, environmental and social assessments, and community consultation.
Most recently, Alex was also appointed Executive Director, Mineral Resources in 2017. As part of the newly formed SA Department for Energy and Mining, her division is the lead environmental and technical regulator for the exploration, mining and quarrying sector, and home of the world-renowned Geological Survey of South Australia.
In addition to a new Chair, the CEnvP Board has also welcomed Joanne Flint as its newest Member.
Joanne has more than 30 years experience in both Australia and internationally, across many industry sectors, with expertise in planning, communications, risk assessment, sustainability, regulatory compliance, environmental engineering, HSE management and coaching.
