EIANZ is delighted to introduce a new initiative for Student members who are nearing the end of their education.

The grants can be used to cover any combination of flights, conference tickets, conference events, accommodation, meals, and non-alcoholic drinks. The grant will be to the value of $1,000 (AUD) per recipient. Recipients will be required to produce all receipts related to their expenditures. Applicants can apply from any region across both Australia and New Zealand.

Applications for the travel grant will close on Monday 21 August 2023, with successful applicants announced on Friday 25 August 2023.
Ahead of the 2023 referendum on proposed changes to Australia’s Constitution, the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand (EIANZ) confirms that we support the proposed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice.
The EIANZ would like to advise all members that the annual NAIDOC Week celebrations start this Sunday 2 July and run until Sunday 9 July 2023. The theme this year is For Our Elders to pay homage to First Nations Elders. There are several ways that EIANZ members can get involved during NAIDOC Week, including accessing education resources, attending local events and supporting First Nations artists and creatives.
The Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand (EIANZ) wishes to promote National Reconciliation Week (NRW) starting on Saturday 27 May and ending on Saturday 3 June. EIANZ encourages all our members and their colleagues to participate in NRW activities in their local area.

Environment Institute calls for more action on climate change and stronger national environmental laws

Impact assessment (IA) relies upon being able to predict changes that may occur to environmental and social systems, values and resources as the result of a proposed action. As these predictions may trigger significant decisions about a development proposal, including a decision about whether to proceed, the accuracy of these predictions is clearly important.
Last week the Legislative Council of the Victorian State Government passed the Climate Change Bill 2016 which makes Victoria the first state in Australia to legislate a net zero emissions target by 2050.
