Climate change & community stakeholder roundtable

Published 22 May 2017 by Pip Marks MEIANZ, ACT Division

The ACT Government’s second climate change community and stakeholder roundtable was held on 1 May 2017. Seventy-two people attended, including representatives from many peak professional bodies based in the ACT. Pip Marks MEIANZ represented EIANZ's ACT Division.

Feedback from the second roundtable will be incorporated into a Blueprint for a zero emissions Territory – ACT’s climate strategy to 2050 and discussion paper to be released later in 2017.

One of the aims of the roundtable was to map a process for community engagement in developing (and implementing) the blueprint. Participants agreed that future roundtables should aim to attract a more diverse group of participants and that this should also be a key consideration in the design of the engagement process.

Consultation with the broader community on the draft blueprint will begin in July 2017 and is expected to include the EIANZ ACT Division. All attendees have been asked to provide feedback on how they would prefer to be engaged.

A third roundtable is expected to be held during the public consultation period.

If any members would like to attend, please contact the ACT Division Committee. This is an excellent networking opportunity and a chance to represent the EIANZ and influence ACT climate change outcomes.
