Scoping is arguably the most important step in impact assessment but it is often done poorly. In response to concerns expressed by practitioners, the EIANZ Special Interest Section on Impact Assessment has prepared a draft background paper on issues in scoping and a set of good practice statements.
Comments are invited on this paper by 16 October and should be sent to ia@eianz.org.
The paper will be revised following further consultation at the EIANZ Conference and a revised version circulated later in the year for comment.
We acknowledge and value the rights and interests of Indigenous Peoples in the protection and management of environmental values through their involvement in decisions and processes, and the application of traditional Indigenous knowledge.
