The Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DEWLP) has released consultation drafts for:
These reviews are an important step in determining a new direction for the management of biodiversity within Victoria.
The EIANZ Victorian Division is proposing to make separate submissions for each of the reviews on behalf of members that consolidates the views of members and colleagues.
We are seeking your views on the both the native vegetation regulations and draft biodiversity plan through short online surveys (approx. 5-10 mins):
The native vegetation clearing regulations review is examining how the regulations have been functioning since reforms were introduced in 2013 and includes a focus on decision making processes, the use of biodiversity information, exemptions, the operation of the offset market and compliance and enforcement issues.
The draft Protecting Victoria's Environment - Biodiversity 2036 has been developed to assist Victorians to recognise the multiple values that biodiversity provides, and to identify the tools, tasks and roles needed to ensure that Victoria’s natural environment is healthy and positioned to cope with the effects of future population growth and climate change.
If you have any questions or would like to assist further in developing the EIANZ submission, please contact the EIANZ Victorian Committee on vic-events@eianz.org.
We acknowledge and value the rights and interests of Indigenous Peoples in the protection and management of environmental values through their involvement in decisions and processes, and the application of traditional Indigenous knowledge.
