The call for nominations for all EIANZ Board positions closed on Tuesday 5 September. Nominations were received for all seven positions. Voting opened on 19 September for the positions of Vice President Australia and Ordinary Board Member (x2).
The nominees for Vice President Australia are: Richard Sharp FEIANZ CEnvP and Vicki Brady MEIANZ CEnvP. The nominees for Ordinary Board Member (x2) are: Ric Bland MEIANZ CEnvP, Mark Breitfuss MEIANZ CEnvP and David Johnson FEIANZ.
Voting instructions were emailed to all members with voting rights on Tuesday 19 September 2017 by the Australian Election Company. Please note, the electoral roll closed on 5 September 2017 - only members with voting rights at that time were sent the voting email.
The outcome of the elections will be declared at the EIANZ Annual General Meeting on 31 October 2017 and the new Board will commence from then.
Only one nomination was received for four of the Board positions. These positions are therefore uncontested and a ballot is not required. The nominated candidates for each of the following positions will assume their responsibilities as members of the incoming Board at the EIANZ Annual General Meeting:

The EIANZ Board functions best if it brings together experienced, driven, passionate collaborators who will represent member interests from across Australia and New Zealand.

The elections are being held in accordance with EIANZ's Rules of Association and By-Law 6.
Who is eligible to vote in the elections?
Current financial Ordinary (Full) Members, Fellow Members, Honorary Fellow Members or Honorary Life Members of the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand Inc. Student and Associate members do not have voting rights. To check the status of your membership, log in to the EIANZ website and go to 'My memberships'. The voting roll closes on 5 September 2017. Only members who meet the voting criteria on this day are eligible to vote in the election.

How much time is involved in being a Board member?
On average, Board members should anticipate spending 5-10 hours per week on Board matters. In a typical year, and at a minimum, Board members are expected to attend approximately 50 hours of meetings. Most meetings are held via teleconference at lunchtime on a week day.
Will there be any travel?
Yes, there will be limited travel. Typically, two full-day face-to-face Board meetings (8 hours each) are held annually - one at the time of the Institute’s Annual Conference (October). Other travel may be involved for Institute matters, depending on the position and Institute priorities. Travel expenses are reimbursed.
Are Board positions paid or voluntary?
All Board members serve on a volunteer basis, however expenses incurred in undertaking their role (such as travel) are reimbursed.
Do Board members receive any support in their roles?
Yes, EIANZ Central Office supports the Board. Specific administrative functions are delegated to Central Office by the Board, including the administration of finances, membership, communications, major events support and delivery of Institute-wide programs. Central Office is open Monday to Friday from 9:00am - 5:00pm.
