The EIANZ has reviewed the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Working Group III Sixth Assessment Report and summarised its central messages.
We urgently repeat our call for immediate and effective action by Australian and Aotearoa New Zealand governments and other decision makers. These actions include containing global warming to 1.5°C, legislating to net zero by 2050 (with interim targets of 50% by 2030), developing and funding mitigation and adaption strategies, and implementing awareness, transition and adaption plans.
As the peak body representing and certifying environmental practitioners, the EIANZ offers its support to governments and decision makers to implement these actions.
We acknowledge and value the rights and interests of Indigenous Peoples in the protection and management of environmental values through their involvement in decisions and processes, and the application of traditional Indigenous knowledge.
