The Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand (EIANZ) is happy to announce the launch of a new Special Interest Section for Environmental Accounting.
Environmental accounting is the practice of measuring and accounting for all the contributing factors that result in an impact to the environment. Environmental accounting is necessary to provide veracity and confidence in environmental and sustainability assertions and spans all levels of reporting – statutory and voluntary, corporate and government.
In March 2021, the EIANZ Board endorsed a resolution to amalgamate the expertise and resources of the Australian Institute of Environmental Accounting (AIEA) with the EIANZ to establish the Environmental Accounting Special Interest Section.
In accordance with the Institute’s By-Law 15 (15.5), the EIANZ Board has appointed an Interim Management Committee for this newly established Special Interest Section.
The EIANZ Board has appointed Chris Wilson MEM, BA, MEIANZ, RGEA as the Interim Chair of the Environmental Accounting Special Interest Section.
Chris is the President of the Australian Institute of Environmental Accounting and a co-founder and director of Pangolin Associates. Chris’ responsibilities are centred around the development and provision of sustainability advisory services. He is focused on constructing and maintaining systematic frameworks which impact multiple bottom lines. Chris is a member of the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand (MEIANZ). He has a master’s degree in Environmental Management and a bachelor’s degree in The History & Philosophy of Science.
Chris is a Registered Greenhouse and Energy Auditor - Category 1 (RGEA) under section 75A of the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act 2007 through the Australian Government’s Clean Energy Regulator (RGEA) and is a Registered Consultant across all certifications under the Climate Active Carbon Neutral program.
