Published 28 November 2014 by Victorian Division

Featuring a panel of five environmental experts, and hosted at RMIT University's state-of-the-art Building 80, this event offered participants the opportunity to hear an evidence-based review of the environment policies offered by the three major parties before the 2014 Victorian State Election. This panel included;

  • Peter Nadebaum - Senior Principal - Environment, GHD
  • Zena Helman - Principal, Helman Consultants
  • Stephen Jenkins - Director, EnviroRisk
  • Professor Graham Currie - Chair - Public Transport, Monash University
  • James Tonson - Vice-President, Victorian Association Environmental Education

The event was facilitated by Martin Brennan, Regional Director of ICLEI, who also introduced the EIANZ Victorian Division's own Policy Statement to all parties: 'Practising good environmental policy in Victoria'. This statement reflects EIANZ values and has been developed with submissions from a recent members survey and focuses on the following key priority themes:

  • Supporting resilient systems - climate change mitigation and adaptation
  • Planning for the future - Transport, Waste and Energy
  • Managing biodiversity as part of development
