There has never been more urgency for climate action in the world than right now. The IPPC has declared the unprecedented rates of climatic shift and variability increase as “unequivocally caused by human activities”. Fortunately there has also never been more opportunity for those who care to get involved and make a difference. Leaders from nearly 200 countries around the world came together in Paris in December 2015 to unanimously acknowledge that we all need to play our part and make clearly defined contribution to emissions reductions through changes to our behaviour and patterns of development.
CC SIS is a five person executive team with positions for Governance (Chair), Advocacy, Certification, Capacity building and Communications. It has setup a certification scheme for Climate Change practitioners (CEnvP CC specialist) and a supporting Learning to Adapt (L2A) training program. It is now planning to expand training into mitigation and promote, advocate and develop its programs further.
We live in an exciting time on Climate Change and we need leaders and passionate team members to join in and assist the CC SIS Executive to continue and expand our work. If you are passionate about, and prepared to contribute time and effort to climate action, please contact Tom Davies (Chair, CC SIS) to express your interest in joining the CC SIS Executive and discuss the type contribution you would like to make. All current executive members are long serving and we would welcome some fresh perspectives. To broaden our representation we particularly encourage women, new EIANZ members and those outside the QLD & NSW EIANZ divisions to apply. Should you be successful we are confident that your experience will be challenging, rewarding and educational.
Contact Tom Davies on 0409 110095 or tom.davies@edgeenvironment.com.au for more information or to express your interest by 30 June 2016.
