Peter Reeves CEnvPPrincipal Environmental Engineer | Golder Associates Pty Ltd Qualifications | BSc. Applied and Environmental Geology, MSc. Engineering Geology, CEnvP |
What do you do?
I project manage a range of contaminated site investigation and remediation projects with a focus on the Oil and Gas industry. I am also an Associate or Senior Leader in the company and provide mentoring and support to junior colleagues.
Best aspect of your work?
The most enjoyable part of my work is playing the detective and piecing together parts of the conceptual site model to understand how the site has evolved and assessing the potential impacts to human health and the environment. The most satisfying part of my role involves the development of junior colleagues and watching them grow in confidence and ability.
How did you get there?
I started as a Geo-environmental Engineer in the UK where I was involved in a number of brownfield redevelopment projects and landfill design and construction projects. I moved to Canberra in 2002 as my wife had a post-doctoral position at Geoscience Australia and I worked as an Environmental Engineer on the Kingston Foreshore redevelopment project for Coffey.
Biggest environmental concern?
There are a few interrelated concerns but climate change probably captures the main ones.
How and why did you get involved in the EIANZ?
I was introduced to EIANZ by a colleague and got involved to support the recognition of professionals in our industry.
We acknowledge and value the rights and interests of Indigenous Peoples in the protection and management of environmental values through their involvement in decisions and processes, and the application of traditional Indigenous knowledge.
