The EIANZ Board has established a series of Committees to inform its decision making on specific areas and reflect and support the purpose and priorities of the Institute. Committees also provide ways for the membership to be part of Institute decision making and direction.

The Board is seeking Expressions of Interest from EIANZ members to the Communications Committee and the Student and Early Careers Committee.

Communications Committee

The role of the Communications Committee is to support the Board in the development and delivery of effective and relevant communications to members and the wider community about EIANZ activities and good practice environmental management.

Terms of reference

The responsibilities of the Communications Committee are to:

  • Provide advice to the Board on communication policy, practice and programs of the EIANZ, and support the development of a communication plan for the EIANZ and its subsidiary elements.
  • Advise on the development of an effective EIANZ presence on the web using integrated web based channels of communication, including an EIANZ website portal and social media channels.
  • Advise on regular web based communications to members about the activities of the EIANZ and its subsidiary elements.
  • Develop the capacity of the EIANZ and its subsidiary elements to have a regular and emergent press/media presence.
  • Determine the editorial policy of the Australasian Journal of Environmental Management.

  • Ian Boothroyd – Advisory Council member, President, New Zealand Chapter
  • Four EIANZ Members (VACANT – seeking expressions of interest)

At least one committee member must be from the New Zealand Chapter.

Student and Early Careers Committee

The role of the Student and Early Career Committee is to support the Board in developing strategies and actions that improve 

Terms of reference

The responsibilities of the Student and Early Career Committee are to:

  • Provide advice to the Board on the development of member services for students and early career environmental practitioners.
  • Facilitate the development of materials, activities, and events that support the development of those studying environment-related degrees, and those early in their careers in the environmental profession.
  • Promote membership of the EIANZ by students and early career environmental practitioners.
  • Facilitate the operation of a ‘Student and Early Career Practitioners Roundtable’ to coordinate the activities of the EIANZ and its subsidiary elements relating to students and early career environmental practitioners.

  • 10 Institute members (VACANT – seeking expressions of interest)

At least one committee member must be from the New Zealand Chapter.

The EIANZ Secretary is the Board representative on this Committee and will serve as Interim Chair until the Committee appoints a chair from its members.

All Expressions of Interest will be assessed by the relevant Committee Chair, in consultation with their Committee members and recommendation made to the EIANZ Board.
